Testimonials
I just want to drop you a few lines to express my gratitude for the support I have had from Hear for You.
Nearly 2 years ago my world came crashing down. My beautiful, 23 year old son Stuart, took his own life without leaving a reason or a clue as to why. He was a great lad with a good job, a car, and a great social life. When he died my hear broke, I had nowhere to turn. My friend tried to help by going with me to my GP, but there was a waiting list for counselling 3 months long. We tried to contact Cruise, but again there was a waiting list of 8-12 weeks. I felt I couldn't wait! I didn't want to live, even though I have another son of 18. I felt totally lost and alone. Nobody seemed to care, the world was going on around me as if nothing had happened. I wanted to scream. I could't sleep.
The undertaker, came out to complete business and saw I wasn't coping. He passed me a card which turned out to be my lifeline. It was Hear for You, a small organisation who support people who were or have contemplating suicide. He said they might be able to help me. I called and made an appointment with a woman called Margo. I went to see Margo for the first time. I was't under any illusions that Margo could help me but I was willing to try. My first appointment lasted over and hour. I can't put in writing how it felt to have someone who wouldn't think I'd lost the plot to help me rationalise my feelings of anger, sadness, loss, not wanting to go on, and she did.
Margo was a godsend. She helped me open up and listened to my inner thoughts without judgement. My first appointment was more than 18 months ago. I visited Margo regularly from weekly, fortnightly, to monthly depending on how I was coping.
I still have very dark days but the good days are increasing. I think of Stuart eevery day and still don't understand why he took his life, but I am realising I'm not to blame.
Hear for You was there for me when I had nowhere else to go. In my opinion there is not enough support out there for those left behind. I was on my knees, physically and mentally, with no way out. Hear for You should be offered to people at the very start of their hellish nightmare. Just someone to talk to, listen without judgement, help to get through it. You will never know how much I thank God Margo was there for me with help and support. So much so, I have made the decision to raise funds when I can to help Hear for You, for if it wasn't for them, I don't know where I would be today.
This is such a worthy cause and so deserving of help.
Yours Sincerely, E
Margo, We can't thank for all the help you gave us
Thank you Hear for You for being here for me
Margo thanks for all your help
Please find enclosed a cheque for £100 for the Hear for You Charity. This is a small token of my appreciation for the tremendous service and support I received from Shirlae following the loss of my mum. I am really grateful for the real difference the help made to my life enabling me to move forward with hope, purpose and love.
